SWM Strategic Plan

Oak Lodge Sanitary District has provided wastewater services to Oak Grove-Jennings Lodge-Oatfield Ridge area residents since 1955. In 1992, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality also required the District to take on new surface water management (SWM) responsibilities. The District shares SWM duties with Clackamas County and other agencies.

New Rules and Customer Needs Drive Change

Since then a lot has changed. Today there are new and stricter regulations, greater customer service expectations and increased awareness of the environmental impact of water pollution, and chronic financial shortfalls across all agencies that manage surface water and watershed health.

Decision Tool for 5-10 Years

Confronting these challenges, the District is developing a strategic plan for surface water management that will guide decision making for the next 5 to 10 years and help focus limited resources on the most important efforts. Engaging the community in setting priorities for the District will be crucial to the plan’s success.
